Can someone explain how the solution doesnt have a negative answer i.e (-pi/3)-example-1

As far as I can tell you are correct. The correct answer for x should be
-pi/3

If you plug x=+pi/3 into the expression cos(x/2 + pi/6), it ends i equaling 1/2, not 0.
