tractors+trucks=28
tractors/trucks=1.8, so tractors=1.8*trucks using this value for tractors in the original equation above gives you:
1.8*trucks+trucks=28
2.8*trucks=28
trucks=10, and since tractors=1.8*trucks
tractors=18
