If you don't use algebra in real life why teach it

Good point...

Algebra is used in finances, engineering, scientific fields, and many more!
When looking to make a major purchase and comparing rates of interest, algebra is used.

That's just one example. Algebra may seem absurd (and yes I hate it too), but it is surely a skill needed for some careers/jobs.

who knows all we really need to know is the basics and they think that you might get a job in the future that may involve math like if you work at a young age most jobs you work at are cashiers and that involves counting money
