3c + 2 m = 10.80
1c + 3m = 5.35
Rewrite the second equation as: c = 5.35 - 3m
Now plug this new equation into the first equation in place of the c.
3(5.35 - 3m) + 2m = 10.80
16.05 - 9m + 2m = 10.80
Combine like terms
16.05 - 7m = 10.80
Subtract 16.05 from both sides
-7m = 10.80-16.05
-7m = -5.25
Divide both sides by -7
m = 5.25
m - .75
Letter B 75 cents per pound
