German tension was increasing, so when it sunk the lusitania, they went crazy. It was a british ship, but it had some American passengers, so they obviously were quite enraged. It was a peaceful ship too, doing everything right and still went down.

The sinking of the Lusitania is remembered as one of the atrocities of World War I that killed a large number of American civilians. People often think that the sinking propelled the US into the war.
