Cylinder A has a radius of 6 centimeters. Cylinder B has the same height and a radius half as long as cylinder A. What fraction of the volume of cylinder A is the volume of cylinder B? Explain.

VA=hpi6^2
VB=hpi(6/2)^2=hpi3^2


A times ?=B
?= a fraction

hpi6^2 times ?=hpi3^2
divide both sides by hpi
6^2 times ?=3^2
36 times ?=9
divide both sides by 36
?=9/36
?=1/4

1/4 of A is B
