Rubbing alcohol evaporates from your hand quickly, leaving a cooling effect on your skin. Because evaporation is an example of a physical property, how do the molecules ofgas compare to the molecules as a liquid? The gas particles have a stronger attraction between them and move slower than the liquid particles. The gas and liquid particles have the same structure and identity but different motion and kinetic energy. The bonds inside the molecule are broken, and atoms move closer together as evaporation occurs. The bonds are broken, and atoms spread apart as the alcohol changes phase from liquid to gas.

Let's analyze each one of the statements., taking into account these characteristics of the gas particles, in comparison with the liquid molecules: the gas particles have a weaker bond between them, they move faster and they have more energy.

1) As we mentioned before, the attraction is not stronger and the speed is not lower. False.

2) These one is true. They are the same structure and identity (it is the same compound), but it is in a different state with different motion and kinetic energy.

3) and 4) If the bonds were broken, it would not be the same compound and it is not true. It only changes from liquid to gas, but it remains the same chemical structure.
