Look at the left side of the polygon. Since they are both real numbers, we can use those to set up a proportion:

16:12=(x-1):6

Now, we can cross multiply and solve:
96=12(x-1)
96=12x-12
108=12x
9=x

The value of x is 9

Hope this helped!

X=7 you use proportions. If you take one side length, such as 24 and 32 you will see that the polygon with a side of 24 is 3/4 the length of the polygon of 32. So you can say that 6/? = 3/4. Since 3 is half of 6, we can double 3 and 4 to get 6/8. Since the length of the side is subtraction of one, it would be 7
