We can represent the width as x. Then since the length is one more than four times the width, the length is 4x+1

We can plug these values into the perimeter equation: P=2L+2W and solve for x

62=2(4x+1)+2(x)
62=8x+2+2x (distribute)
62=10x+2 (combine like terms)
60 = 10x (subtract 2 from both sides)
x=6 (divide both sides by 10)

So the width is 6 inches

Hope this helps
