Let the length of the altitude be x, then
x / 13 = 11 / x [taking account the similarity of the two formed triangles]
x^2 = 13 x 11 = 143
x = sqrt(143)

What is the length of the altitude drawn to the hypotenuse? The figure is not drawn to scale. Please explain how you solve this. I want to learn how to do this.
