Why does an object’s mass and speed cause it to have kinetic energy?

The formula for kinetic energy is ...

K = (.5)(M)(V^2)

As you can see, mass and speed are in the equation, so it means it directly impacts the magnitude of kinetic energy. Also kinetic energy is energy in motion. If it's moving, it has kinetic energy.
