Why does Paul use personification for, “The rain clouds show up every day, just like they’re supposed to, but there aren’t any tangerine trees. Just people. And the people have no use for the rain clouds. So the clouds go around looking for all the tangerine trees. They can’t find them, they get mad, and they start thundering and lightning and dumping the rain on us.”

Answer:

The rain clouds

Step-by-step explanation:

When using personification, we give non-human things, things that have no sentience or life, human qualities. Paul is personifying the rain clouds and giving them the ability to see (eyes) and search for the tangerine trees. He is also giving them emotions such as frustration (mad) and the effect of this when the clouds begin to thunder and produce lightning.
