Jasmine really wants to make an A in her college math class. The class has 6 exam grades that make up the final grade. So far, she has made an 83, 94, 96, 85, and a 81. Is it possible for her to make an A in the class if the cut off for an is 90 and the highest possible grade on a test is 100?

Here’s how I would do this.

Multiply .90 (90 percent) by 600 (total points all semester) to see how many points she must earn. You’ll get 540.

Add the scores she’s got already and subtract from 540.

I get 439. She needs 540 and the most she could possibly make is 539.

So no...unless her teacher rounds. :)
