On Michael's farm they have a herd of dairy cattle. There are one hundred eight cows in the herd. If it takes a third of an acre of pastureland to provide grass for each cow, how many acres of pastureland are needed to provide grass for their dairy cattle?

If it takes 1/3 of an acre for each cow then you'd get 108 and divide it by 3 so it would take 36 acres to feed all the cows.

Answer: There are 36 acres to provide grass for their dairy cattle.

Explanation:

Since we have given that

Number of cows in the herd = 108

Number of acre of pastureland to provide grass for each cow =
(1)/(3)

We need to find the number of acres of pastureland that are needed to provide grass for their dairy cattle.

So, Number of acres in all is given by

108* (1)/(3)\\\\=36\ acres

Hence, there are 36 acres to provide grass for their dairy cattle.
