1.) Johanna has s yards of string. For an art project, she can cut an equal number of pieces of string of each piece is 11/12 foot long. Write an expression that represents the number of pieces she can cut.

2) A pair of pants normally cost p dollars. The pants are on sale for 15% off. Write an expression to represent the sale price of the pants.

3) Aiden is shopping for school supplies. He has $35 to spend on a calculator and notebooks. He will buy one calculator for $18. Let n represent the cost of one notebook. Write an expression to represent the number of notebooks Aiden can buy with $35.

1) s/11/12=x or s divided by 11/12
2) p-.15=x or p minus .15
3) 35-18=n or 35 minus 18 equals n
