Why is staph more resistant to high salt concentration?

Staphylococcus aureus is a halophilic bacteria that grows in saline water such as saline soils, salt lakes, and salted food. They have certain intracellular adaptation such as keeping low intracellular ionic concentrations, accumulating organic solutes to maintain equilibrium of the osmotic pressure across the cytoplasm or making adaptations to the cytoplasmic membrane in order to grow in hyper saline environments.

Here is the answer. The reason why staph is more resistant to high salt concentration is that it is a Gram Positive cocci. These G+ bacteria are well known to be less susceptible to harsher environments than G- bacteria. Hope this answers your question. Have a great day ahead!
