First you have to get a common denominator, so multiply each fraction by the opposite fraction's denominator, but the whole number is not multiplied along with it.

3 1/3 * 5 = 3 3/15

2 2/5 * 3 = 2 6/15

Now you can subtract them

3 3/15 - 2 6/15
48/15 - 36/15
12/15

4/5 is the answer!

I hope that helps!
