For solving the exercise you must take into account that the 3 products correspond to the 100%. If we pay just 2 for 3, we must find the proportion of 2 respect to the total. We use rule of three.

x=(2\cdot 100\%)/(3)


x=66.666\%

Now, 2 products corresponds to the 66.666%. If we pay 2 and the store give us 3, it means that the store are giving one for free. We are paying the 66.666% of the total of the price. So, the rest, it means 100%-66.666% =33.334% is the discount.

The discount refers to the product we didn't pay for, it means 1 product.
