When the inertia forces are overcome the cage travels at a constant velocity of 3 m/s, determine the workdone

Work is done when a force that is applied to an object moves that object. The work is calculated by multiplying the force by the amount of movement of an object. Force is mass times acceleration. The problem says the system is at constant velocity therefore acceleration is zero. Thus, work done would be zero as well.
