Karen has 1/2 cup of sugar for baking cookies. How much more sugar does she need to triple the recipe?

First, you have to multiply 1/2 x 3
But you need to put the 3 over one so it will look like : 3/1
Then you multiply 1/2 x 3/1 which gives you the answer of 1 1/2

.5 x 3 = 1.5
1.5 - .5 = 1

Karen will need one more cup of sugar to triple the recipe
