The length of a rectangle is 4 centimeters less than twice its width. The perimeter of the rectangle is 34 cm. What are the dimensions of the rectangle?

P = 2(L + W)
P = 34
L = 2W - 4

34 = 2(2W - 4 + W)
34 = 2(3W - 4)
34 = 6W - 8
34 + 8 = 6W
42 = 6W
42/6 = W
7 = W <==== width is 7 cm

L = 2W - 4
L = 2(7) - 4
L = 14 - 4
L = 10 <====length is 10 cm
