To answer, we first divide both sides of the equation by -2.3 giving us a new equation which is,
x - 1.2 = 4.2
Then, we add 1.2 to both sides of the equation,
(x - 1.2) + 1.2 = 4.2 + 1.2
x = 5.4
The value of x is 5.4.
