The 1920s was the last decade in which the rural population was greater than (or at least equal to) America's urban population. After this time, more people lived in cities and work in businesses or factories than worked in agriculture. Farmers live in rural areas, so that would make the 1920s the only acceptable answer from these choices.

More than likely the 1920s because of the great depression era most citizens were left to farming. Also, there was tons of farming way back then, but nowadays its slimmed down to barely any farming.
