Why is graphite used instead of gold or copper wires to conduct electricity in very hot situations such as an industrial kiln?

The strong bonds give graphite high boiling and melting points, while the weak bonds make graphite soft and flexible.

Graphite has strong bonds which gives it high boiling and melting points. With a high boiling point and melting points graphite can not melt easily, and thus is why it is preferred in hot situations such as an industrial kiln.
