2(2+4x)=-4
So you expand the brackets by multiplying everything inside by outside:
4 + 8x = -4
Then you move the 4 over next to -4
8x = -4 -4
So it become 8x = -8 and then you divide 8 by -8
Which therefore gives you the answer of
X = -1
