because it includes dilations, at the end the figure ends up being congruent

For every dilatation there must be an equal dilatation applied in the opposite direction and with the opposite effect

Explanation:

The figure and the end result can only be congruent if an even number of dilations was applied and for each dilation applied to the figure, a dilation with the opposite effect was applied also.
