Lee needed to make drapes the length from the floor to the top of the window. The wall beneath the window had the height of 2 2/3 feet and the length of just the window measured 2 3/4 feet. How long do the drapes have to be?

The drapes have to be 5 5/12. All you have to do is add the two fractions together to get your answer.

Answer: The drapes have to be 5 5/12 long.

Explanation:

Hi, to solve this problem we have to analyze the information:

Wall beneath the window: 2 2/3 feet

Window: 2 3/4 feet

Now, to obtain the length of the drapes we simply have to sum the length of the window and the length of the wall beneath the window.

So, mathematically speaking:

2 2/3= 8/3

2 3/4=11/4

8/3 + 11/4 = 32/12+ 33/12= 65/12

65/12= 5 5/12

The drapes have to be 5 5/12 long.

Feel free to ask for more if it´s necessary or if you did not understand something.
