1-.8=.2

the 1 can also be seen as 100% or: 100%-80% = 20%

First: Find the difference between the two numbers.

40 - 32 = 8

Second: Take the decrease and divide by the original number.

8 / 40 = 0.2

Third: Multiply your decimal by 100 to get the percent.

0.2 x 100 = 20%
