Suppose three out of every five people said they would prefer a television over a computer. If we surveyed 5,000 people, how many would prefer a television?

3,000 is your answer

Explanation:

so you set it up: 3/5 = x/5000

5(x)= (3)(5000)

3 X 5,000 = 15000

15000 = 5x

divide each side by 5, 5x and 5 cancel out and (15000 /5 =3,000) that will leave you with an answer of 3,000

3,000 people because 3/5 is 0.6, so all you have to do is multiply 5,000 by 0.6 to get 3,000. Also, 3000/5000 is like 3/5, just with more zeros. Hope I helped!
