Which answer best explains a reason people wanted to build a railroad across the United States.

Probably for transportation, but when more people can see good cities they might want to live there which causes the city to grow larger and the government can get more taxes and with the taxes they could build new and cool stuff in their city which will cause more people to want to come to the city, which means more taxes.
