if a seismograph shows only p waves what does that tell scientists about the location of the earthquake in relation to the location of the seismograph

Earthquakes are being recorded by the use of a seismograph. If a seismograph detects p waves it means that the shaking is in the earth’s interior and is not yet felt in the surroundings. It is the kind of wave that dogs can feel before an earthquake happens.
