You run 4 miles each week. On Monday, you run 1/2 mile. On Tuesday, you run 1/3 mile. How much farther do you run on Monday than on Tuesday

To solve this, you'd want to get the equation where both fractions have the same denominator. Two & three are both factors of six so you'd multiply 1/2 by 3 & 1/3 by 2. The parent equation would look similar to 3/6-2/6=x to solve for x you'd just subtract two from three and put the difference over six. Your answer is "I ran one sixth of a mile farther on Monday than I ran on Tuesday."

In order to know that, you have to subtract distance on Tuesday from distance on Monday.

It would be: 1/2 - 1/3
= 3-2 / 6
= 1/6

In short, Your Answer would be 1/6 miles

Hope this helps!
