A new baby elephant ate 2/3 bag of feed for breakfast. For lunch, the elephant ate 1/2 as much as he did for breakfast. How much feed did the elephant eat for lunch?

You would multiply the 2, so 2/3 times 1/2, so he had 2/6 simplified to 1/3

Answer:

The answer is:
(1)/(3) bag.

Explanation:

A new baby elephant ate
(2)/(3) bag of feed for breakfast.

For lunch, the elephant ate
(1)/(2) as much as he did for breakfast.

Means he ate
(1)/(2) *(2)/(3) bag of feed for lunch.

It becomes
(1)/(3) bag.
