The reasons why settlers moved to Oregon in the early 1830s and early 1840s because they wanted a new start seeking adventure, new farmland, and a refuge from civilization itself. Oregon itself was a huge attraction to new settlers who are moving there because the Willamette valley offered farmland. Oregon was discovered by the British, but they didn't claim it as their territory. Americans who came there had it annexed under US control because the British was unable to settle there.
