Each student wrote a two step equation peter wrote the equation 4x - 2 = 10 and andres wrote the eqaution 16x - 8 =40 the teacher looked at their equations and asked them to compare them describe one way in which the equations are similar

Both equations are basically the same thing.
Lets simplify them both
4x-2=10
4x=12
x=3.
Now lets simplify the other one.
16x-8=40
16x=48
x=3
So we can conclude that the second one is the same as the first one but all the values are multiplied by 4

Answer:

Both equations represent the same expression or line

Explanation:

Both equations are expressed in terms of a unique variable x. Equation 1 is

4x-2 = 10

However, equation (2) is simply equation (1) multiplied by 4:

4* (4x-2) =10*4

16x - 8 = 40

If we simplify both equations we arrive to the same x value

4x-2 = 10

4x=12

x=12/4=3

16x - 8 = 40

16x = 48

x = 48/16 = 3
