How was life similar and/or different for American women before, during, and after the war? Did the war change the role of women in American society?

Women were highly unlikely to get jobs before the war, but during the war all help was needed, so they got to work in factories. Their role changed pretty rapidly during and after the war, as they were forced back into being housewives.
