The length of a rectangle is 3 times the side of a square. The width of the rectangle is 5 inches greater than the side of the square. If the area of the square is 4x^2 - 12x + 9 square inches, what are the dimensions of the rectangle?

Length = 6x - 9
Width = 2x + 2

Since the area of the square is given, we can factor and tell that each side of the square is equal to 2x - 3. Then we can make the changes identified to find the sides of the rectangle.
