We are to find the mountain lion per 250 km²

We can do this by first finding the mountain lion per 1km² and then multiplying it by 250.

Mountain lions per 1km² = 4543/423970

So,

Mountain lions per 250 km² will be:


(4543)/(423970)*250 \\ \\ =2.68

So we can say there are about 3 mountain lions per 250 km²
