Rule of three:

Mountain Km^2
Lions
4,543 → 423,970
x ← 250

x=(4,543)*(250)/(423,970)
x=2.678845201
Rounded to the nearest integer: x=3

Answer: Option B. About 3 mountain lions per 250 km^2

We are to find the mountain lion per 250 km²

We can do this by first finding the mountain lion per 1km² and then multiplying it by 250.

Mountain lions per 1km² = 4543/423970

So,

Mountain lions per 250 km² will be:

(4543)/(423970)*250 \\ \\ =2.68

So we can say there are about 3 mountain lions per 250 km²
