Why are children considered a big part of romantic poetry?

Personally, I think this is because of the idealised ‘happily ever after’ which in the past included the nuclear family and is often encouraged in historical romantic literature. Another possible reason could be the link between childhood—> innocence—> romance—> happy ever after.
