Answer: X = 1 and X = 3

Explanation:

By filling in both the possible X values (1 and 3) you get two equations.

5|1-2| + 3 = 8

5|3-2| + 3 = 8

Both of these equations when simplified equal eight on both sides because the first one has the absolute value of -1 times 5 plus 3 which is eight. The second equation is the same besides the fact that it's the absolute value of 1, not -1 but it makes no difference.
