What is the quotient of -8x^6/4x^-3

If we simplify this down into the division of the numbers and then the division of the variable x it will be easier. If we divide -8 by 4 we get -2. So that's out of the way. Now we divide
(x^6)/(x^(-3)). The rule is that if the bases are the same (they are both x's) we can subtract the lower exponent from the upper exponent:
x^{6-(-3) which is
x^9. So the whole simplified expression is
-2x^9
