I am not really sure if that what the question asks for, but I know it is right;
By simplifying them to the smallest value of fraction possible, if the 2 simplified fractions are equal then you proved the equity of both fractions.
For Example;
Prove that
(500)/(1000) is equal to
(800)/(1600)
Solution: Simplify;

(500)/(1000)= (5)/(10)= (1)/(2)
Similarly,

(800)/(1600)= (8)/(16)= (1)/(2)
So both are
=(1)/(2)

Hope this helps!
