x^2-x=17 \\ x^2-x-17=0 \\ \bigtriangleup=b^2-4ac=1-4*1*(-17)=1+68= √(69) \\ x_1= (-b- √(\bigtriangleup) )/(2a) = (1- √(69) )/(2) \\ x_2= (-b+ √(\bigtriangleup) )/(2a) = (1+ √(69) )/(2)
