Each cassette tape costs $5. Therefore the total cost of the cassettes is 5 × the amount of cassettes, which is represented by x. Hence, the total cost if the cassettes is 5x.

Each CD costs $11. Therefore the total cost of the CDs is 11 × the amount of CDs, which is represented by y. Hence, the total cost if the cassettes is 11y.

You can at maximum spend $ 39 .
So the cost will always be smaller than or equal to $39. Hence, the inequality will be:

5x + 11y \leqslant 39
