The correct answer is
consolidation.
Consolidation refers to the process in memory whereby memories are strengthened and modified so that they are stabilized and stored in one's long-term memory. In this way, memories can be retrieved at future occasions as and when required. The hippocampus area of the brain is implicated in memory consolidation.
