You are at a crowded movie theater, enjoying a great film. All of a sudden, someone yells out, “Fire!” People run out of the theater. There is no fire in the theater; the patron did it as a joke. Was the patron’s action protected by the First Amendment?

yelling fire in a theater is dangerous and will most likely provoke violence, therefore it is not protected by the first amendment
