How did peasants and serfs benefit after the bubonic plague?

After this happen, a lot of land that previously owned by nobles become uninhibited because many of the nobles died or choose to flee the contaminated territory. Peasants and serf benefited because they could take ownership of the lands and improve the quality of their life.
