Let one number be x

one number = x
the other number = x + 1

The sum is 45
x + x + 1 = 45
2x + 1 = 45
2x = 45 - 1
2x = 44
x = 22

x = 22
x + 1 = 22 + 1 = 23

The two numbers are 22 and 23.
