A rectangle is drawn on a coordinate plane. Three vertices of the rectangle are points A(−4,3) , B(2,3) , and C(2,−1) . Point D is the fourth vertex of the rectangle. What is the distance from point C to point D?

Answer:

Distance CD = 6

Explanation:

In a rectangle ABCD coordinates of A(-4, 3), B(2, 3) and C(2, -1) are given.

We have to find the distance between points C and D when D is the fourth vertex of the rectangle.

Since in a rectangle length of opposite sides are equal, so AB = CD

distance between A(-4, 3) and B(2,3) = distance between points C and D

√(2+4)²+ (3-3)² = CD

CD = √6² = 6

Therefore CD = 6 is the answer.
